It's summer, it's hot, the sun is shining! Who wouldn't want some ice cream? Conventional ice cream from your favorite ice cream parlor may be delicious, but when we take a closer look at the ingredients, it quickly becomes clear that this ice cream is not suitable for daily consumption. It simply contains too much industrial refined sugar, and depending on the flavor, cream, chocolate, etc. are added too! Refreshing – yes, healthy – no!

But that's no reason not to treat yourself to ice cream on hot summer days, because I have created the perfect ice cream recipe for you, and believe me, once you have tried it, you will never want another ice cream again

It is a fantastically creamy "nice cream" made from bananas. The other ingredients I used not only make the ice cream a refreshing treat, but also provide significant amounts of nutrients and vitamins.

In addition to the bananas, which form the base of the ice cream, I used chlorella powder, erythritol powder, broccoli seeds, pomegranate seeds, cacao nibs, and mint. To understand how nutrient-rich this combination is, I will briefly go over the individual ingredients.

Bananas: Always delicious and one of the most popular fruits! For good reason, bananas provide not only potassium and magnesium, but also significant amounts of folic acid, iron, copper, and beta-carotene. They are virtually fat-free and help regulate blood sugar levels, which in turn can help with weight loss. Furthermore, bananas support digestion with their resistant starch and abundant pectin, thus contributing to a good feeling in the body.

Chlorella Powder: The chlorella plant is one of the oldest plants on our planet; it owes its name to its high chlorophyll content. It is one of the most popular superfoods, partly due to its remarkably high content of vitamin B12, which is known to reduce fatigue and lack of motivation.

Erythritol Powder: Erythritol is a sugar alcohol that has about 70% of the sweetness of table sugar, but is completely calorie-free and thus does not affect blood sugar levels.

Broccoli Seeds: Broccoli seeds are rich in sodium, iron, calcium, zinc, potassium, phosphorus, vitamins B1, B2, B6, C, and E. The secondary plant compounds, glucosinolates, and especially sulforaphane contained in them are known for their anti-cancer effects.

Pomegranate Seeds: Pomegranate seeds are an excellent source of fiber and particularly rich in antioxidants and polyphenols, making them a real nutrient powerhouse.

Cacao Nibs: Cacao nibs are one of nature's best sources of magnesium; with a content of 415 mg/100 g, they are among the most magnesium-rich foods of all. But their calcium content (160 mg/100 g) should not be overlooked either. In addition, many antioxidants act as "free radical catchers," reduce oxidative stress, and thus help delay the aging process. The high iron content in cacao nibs is useful for oxygen transport in the body and thus contributes to increased performance. Finally, the little nibs also act as a natural antidepressant; cacao is known for its mood-lifting effect, which is attributed to the tryptophan and the stimulant theobromine contained in it.

Who could possibly say no to this fantastic nice cream???

I certainly can't! What could be better than enjoying a deliciously sinful ice cream without having to feel guilty about its unhealthy ingredients?

I would have liked to call this recipe something like this:

Garnished Mint Chocolate Chip Nice Cream in a coconut shell from above

"Antioxidant-Power-Vitamin-Trace Element-Vital Nutrient Kick-Mint-Cacao-Banana Ice Cream" – but that would probably have been a bit much and might have caused some confusion.
Now you know how brilliant and healthy this recipe is, so you can try it right away.

But since you are probably already very excited about the actual recipe, here it is.

For 1 person

Mint Chocolate Nice Cream

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Total time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

Ice cream:

  • 4 ripe, frozen bananas
  • 1 tsp chlorella powder
  • 1 tbsp broccoli seeds
  • 1 tbsp cacao nibs
  • 2 stems of fresh mintToppings:
  • 1 tbsp erythritol powder (or another sweetener (dates, maple syrup...)
  • 1 tbsp dried pomegranate seeds
  • 1 stem of fresh mint
  • a few banana slices

    Preparation:

  1. Place the frozen bananas and the mint leaves from one stem in a high-performance blender and blend until a creamy mass has formed. Take 3 tbsp of this mass and set aside (ideally store it in the freezer in the meantime).
  2. Add the chlorella powder to the remaining mass and blend thoroughly again.
  3. Chop another stem of mint, add the broccoli seeds and cacao nibs to the ice cream mass, and blend everything very briefly once more, so that some pieces remain (for the crunch factor).
  4. Take the stored white ice cream out of the freezer compartment and fill a bowl with the green ice cream next to it. Use a spoon to create patterns/marbling in the cream as desired. Garnish with the toppings and enjoy as quickly as possible to prevent it from melting.
  5. Enjoy
