Grapes - the darker, the more powerful! 🍇

Now is the best time to prepare yourself for a journey full of vitality and well-being with grapes. Dive into the world of grape detox and discover the amazing benefits that grapes have to offer!

Why a grape cure?

DNA protection: Grapes contain resveratrol, a powerful substance known for its remarkable ability to protect our cell DNA from harmful mutations that can be caused by various factors such as environmental toxins, aging, an unhealthy lifestyle, and stress. This natural substance acts like a shield and preserves the integrity and stability of our genetic material. This reduces the risk of genetic disorders and diseases and reverses existing “diseases.” By incorporating grapes into our diet, we can offer our body this important protection and ensure optimal cell health.

Hydration: One of the greatest benefits of grapes is their high water content. Adequate hydration is crucial for many bodily functions, including optimal joint health, body temperature regulation, and the protection of vital tissues such as the spinal cord. By eating grapes, you ensure that the body is sufficiently hydrated. This promotes overall well-being and supports the optimal function of all body systems. Drinking water is not enough; it must be perfectly structured water, which can only be found in fruits.

Eye health: Grapes are not only delicious but also good for eye health. They contain two important pigments, lutein and zeaxanthin, which play a crucial role in protecting and improving vision. These pigments widen the field of vision, making it easier to recognize objects at close and far distances. They also reduce discomfort caused by glare and bright light, allowing for better visual acuity even in difficult lighting conditions. Furthermore, lutein and zeaxanthin improve visual contrast, making it easier to distinguish between different shades. Incorporating grapes into your diet is therefore a tasty and effective way to promote, maintain, and even improve eye health.

Other benefits of grapes:

  • ⚡ Quick energy: The natural sugars glucose and fructose provide readily available energy and keep the liver healthy and active.
  • ❤️ Support cardiovascular health: Grapes contain polyphenols such as resveratrol, quercetin and anthocyanins, which have antioxidant and vascular effects.
  • 🛡️ Rich in antioxidants: Particularly dark/red grapes contain many polyphenols that can protect cells from oxidative stress.
  • 🩸 Vascular function: Certain grape polyphenols can positively influence blood vessel function and circulation.
  • 🧠 Brain & nervous system: The polyphenols contained in grapes are being studied for their potential neuroprotective effects.
  • 💩 Fiber for digestion: Whole grapes provide fiber, especially through the skin, and can contribute to normal bowel movements. Grape juice contains soluble fiber, which also has a positive effect.
  • 🦠 Gut microbiome: Polyphenols and fiber can act as substrates or modulators for gut bacteria. By promoting healthy gut bacteria, a strong gut microbiome is created - which is the foundation of overall health.
  • 🦴 Potassium & vitamin K: Grapes provide, among other things, potassium and vitamin K, which support various bodily functions and are crucial for bone health.
  • ✨ Skin: Vitamin C and various polyphenols contribute to antioxidant protection; vitamin C is also important for collagen formation.
  • 🔥 Inflammation regulation: Some grape polyphenols show anti-inflammatory properties. This means that grapes put an end to all inflammation-related “diseases.”

Especially interesting: the skin 🍇

Many of the polyphenols are located in or directly under the skin. This is why red and black grapes differ significantly from light grapes in some respects. Anthocyanins, for example, are responsible for the intense red, purple, or blue color.

Which grape variety is the best?

The best selection of grapes is available during the grape season. I recommend the Concord, Muscadine, and Red Globe varieties. Generally, red/dark grapes are more powerful than the green/light varieties. However, both work wonders in the body! Whenever possible, I recommend focusing entirely or mostly on the dark varieties.

Concord grapes have one of the highest polyphenol contents compared to other grapes. Polyphenols give them their bright purple color and act as natural antioxidants.

Muscadine grapes are rich in fiber and contain more resveratrol than other grape varieties. Resveratrol is an antioxidant that promotes mental health and has anti-aging properties.

Red Globe grapes do not contain as many antioxidants as Concord and Muscadine grapes, but still contain considerable amounts.

👉🏼 Not all grape varieties are always and everywhere available. Here is an overview of the most common varieties in German supermarkets and markets:

🍇 Common grape varieties in German supermarkets:

Green/light, mostly seedless

  • Thompson Seedless / Sultana – very common, light green, sweet, crisp
  • Sugraone / Superior Seedless – light green, crisp, mild
  • Regal Seedless – yellow-green, sweet
  • Autumn Crisp – large, round, light green berries, very sweet, light muscat aroma
  • Victoria – light, oval, but with seeds
  • Italia – large green-yellow grapes, with seeds, distinct muscat aroma

Red/pink

  • Crimson Seedless – very common, red to dark red, seedless, crisp and sweet
  • Apulia Rose – pink to dark red, seedless
  • Scarlotta – large red, seedless berries
  • Red Globe – large red berries, with seeds
  • Flame Seedless – red, seedless, mainly in certain seasonal months

Dark/blue

  • Autumn Royal – dark blue to almost black, seedless, elongated berries
  • Michele Palieri – dark, with seeds
  • Muscat varieties – can be light or blue and have a pronounced muscat aroma.

Seeds or seedless:
Grapes with seeds are not necessarily better than seedless ones. Many people also report very positive experiences with seedless grapes. Seedless does not mean GMO, and the nutrients are not lost through the crossbreeding of seedless varieties. Whether you prefer seedless grapes or grapes with seeds is a matter of individual preference.

Seasonal shopping: The grape season is limited in time and varies by region. Typically, grapes are in season from August to October, but the harvest can also take place in early summer or late autumn. While grapes are available year-round, they are more nutrient-rich and taste better in season. Therefore, I recommend doing the grape cure in late summer/autumn.

My approach to grape detox: During the grape cure, I drink one liter of freshly pressed grape juice in the morning, then either another liter of grape juice or about 1 kg of whole grapes at noon. In the evening, depending on hunger, I have grape juice again. However, if you are not used to drinking/eating larger portions at once, it is advisable to spread smaller amounts throughout the day.

In this case, you can eat one to two handfuls of grapes every two hours throughout the day. Alternatively, you can drink grape juice.

Nothing ELSE is consumed except grapes (possibly water if needed)
There is no restriction on the amount; whenever you feel hungry, you should have grapes. Several kilos a day are definitely necessary.

Duration:
The grape cure can be carried out for 1-60 days. You have enough energy to integrate it into everyday life. Of course, it depends on the physical condition and the severity of the “illness” you want to improve with the cure. The more severe the health complaints, the longer you should carry out the cure.

The juicer:
If you want to buy a juicer, I recommend doing so through HUROM. With my code LENA10, you get 10% off. I have the H80ST juicer and am absolutely thrilled and extremely satisfied. It makes juicing incredibly easy, and you save a lot of money because it works so efficiently. Little waste - high yield. It is extremely important to work exclusively with a slow juicer. Centrifugal juicers destroy the cell walls of the grapes, and you lose a large part of the valuable nutrients.
