Mango Smoothie Bowls with half a dried papaya, coconut chips and fruit from above

Another smoothie bowl!!?? Yessss, definitely, there are many reasons for it:

  1. Extremely delicious
  2. Packed with vitamins and minerals, amino acids, healthy carbohydrates and fats
  3. Quick and easy to prepare
  4. Easier to digest than smoothies (which you often drink too quickly), as the toppings force you to chew
  5. Beautiful to look at
  6. Very filling

I know that smoothie bowls are a real trend… but honestly, they deserve to be hyped. Smoothie bowl is a term, but what you can make with it is so diverse. Green smoothie bowls with spinach, lamb's lettuce, parsley or other greens as a base, red bowls with berries and/or beetroot as a base, yellow bowls with exotic fruits such as pineapple, mango, apricot or banana, blue smoothie bowls with spirulina and blueberries. The variation possibilities are endless (sounds like I'm a mathematician – definitely not, if anyone has no understanding of numbers at all, then it's me! But that's okay, I've gotten through life so far wonderfully without curve discussions and probability calculations. For a dancer, it's enough if he/she can count to 8 :)). Okay, jokes aside…

And now to the toppings, what would a smoothie bowl be without toppings? Ice cream without crunch, that would be boring. There are also countless toppings, fruit is my favorite. For the crunch factor, you always need something with a bite, such as mulberries, goji berries, coconut chips, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, rawnola, raw, sugar-free chocolate bars, chocolates or chocolate drops.

It's a kind of mix and match, once you have decided on the right base and the right toppings, you can get started. Simply mix, top – done! It really couldn't be easier.

Before I reveal my secret ingredient in this recipe, here are a few more tips on what matters to me personally with smoothie bowls:

  1. I always make sure that the base covers my calorie needs for this meal. Because especially when I consume a smoothie bowl for lunch, it should keep me full for the rest of the day and I want to cover my daily requirement of nutrients with it. I like to mix a good portion of greens with it. Greens such as spinach, kale, mint, parsley, etc. You won't taste the vegetables in the end anyway, because the fruits that I add with their own fruit sweetness steal the show from the greens.
  2. To give my bowls that certain extra, I sometimes also add spices such as cinnamon, vanilla, cardamom or I use maca, mesquite, baobab, lucuma, cocoa or carob to make the taste even more interesting.
  3. My toppings usually consist of a mix of fresh and dried fruits (e.g. dates, goji berries, mulberries, figs). Occasionally a healthy fat source is added (nuts, seeds, nut butter). When the bowl serves me as lunch, my snacks are also sometimes used as a topping, bars, chocolates, etc.

Now you know a lot about smoothie bowls, now as promised a recipe, for one of thousands of variations, sometimes my favorite.

And the secret ingredient is… (drumroll)… cauliflower! Oh yes, get your veggies in
